Terracotta? More like Terror-cotta!

When we purchased the home we knew it was a possibility that the 30 year old terracotta floors that covered the kitchen and hallway could be a nightmare to remove.

Look at all that TERROR-cotta...
We had no idea how much of a nightmare the tile would become!  The guys doing the demo (Steven & Paul - they're wonderful) thought they would have the tile up by last Thursday.  Then it was definitely by Friday.  No wait, the tile would be up by Saturday.  Well, now we will finish it up by Sunday for sure.

I stopped by Sunday afternoon and Steven and Paul were standing outside the front of the house.  Missing was the insanely loud noise of the jackhammer slowly chiseling away at the terracotta floor tiles.  They come up to me and I know something isn't right.  They're apologizing.  Apparently the jackhammer died.  I'm pretty sure the terracotta tile killed it.  The jackhammer was no match to those thick baked earth tiles.

I didn't get an opportunity to swing by the house today but hopefully those burdensome tiles will be gone.  Here are a few videos I took of Steven working on the jackhammer - before it's demise.  WARNING: check your computer's volume before you click!  It's quite loud!

Also - notice how long Steven has the jackhammer against the tile and how it seems like nothing is really happening.  It took these guys forever to get one single tile up.  Poor guys!
